“Must” và “Have to” đều là những đơn vị ngữ pháp chúng ta thường bắt gặp và sử dụng. Chúng ta dùng chúng để miêu tả sự bắt buộc/ cần thiết và quy định phải làm một hành động nào đó. Xét về mặt ý nghĩa chúng đều có nét tương đồng. Tuy nhiên, trong những trường hợp nhất định Must và Have to cả hai đều phải tuân theo một quy định luật nhất định. Ví dụ:
You must finish your meal before 9.00pm. ( Bạn phải ăn xong trước 9 giờ tối)

Students mustn’t be late for school. (Học sinh không được đi học trễ)

You don’t have to finish all your meals. (Bạn không cần phải ăn hết đồ ăn đâu)
